Moving UP!

Well, I finally got promoted. Starting Monday, I will be the new Assistant Manager at my Macy's store. I'll be moving from the home department to the Women's Ready to Wear. I feel pretty good about this move mainly because they created this position for me. Macy's doesnt have Assistant Managers. This position mainly means that I'm to motivate the others and make sure that things goes well. I will mostly be assisting Mindy, the Manager of Women's Ready to Wear.

Soon after that I am going through the ATM program (Associate to Manager). I plan to get through the program before Kenneth and I move back to Oklahoma next February. That way I will have the experience under my belt when I apply at the Macy's in Oklahoma City.

I absolutely hate having to leave the Macy's here, but this city is starting to scare me. I think it's time to head home. My family hasn't seen me in years. Vegas isn't the fun little city that it once was. There is way to much violence here anymore. You can't go a night without some murder or something. It's time to move on, back to the home state.

At any rate...I'm looking forward to being around family again.

Mrs. Kenneth Furnace

Well, as of 4:30 today, Saturday April 14th, on our 22nd anniversary together…Ken and I finally tied the knot. It was just him and me at the Little Church of the West. It was a nice ceremony. A bit lonely being that it was just him and me. No friends or family. It was just a simple thing with him, me the pastor and photographer. I had a bit of a time with the pastor. I really had a qualm about him and his God references. I really wanted a non religious one but…it didn’t happen. Oh well, it was more for Ken than it was for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ken, but I could have done without the wedding and just as easily drove through the drive thru to get married. Oh well…I only got a few pictures…it’s a crime how much they wanted for pictures.
Anyway…Susan Styles no longer exists. It’s now Susan Furnace…or rather, on line, its Red Furnace. Funny that huh?

Marriage

Well, in case you didnt know it. Ken and I have decided to marry after nearly 22 years together. April 14th is the deadline. LOL. We are marrying at the Little Chapel of the West here in Vegas. Ken had always said that when we did get married he wanted it done there...so...there is will be. Its cute little chapel. I dont mind as long as there isnt too much religious interplay. Being wiccan...that could put a damper on it for me. But...I could go through with it if Ken wants it. Sacrifices...LOL

Anyway. I am also registered at Macy's since I work there. But the kicker is...I pretty much have everything I need after 22 years. Plus...I work in the Home Department...so I already have most of whats there. So, I just registered for some gadgets and things plus one or two things larger. Its weird. I really didnt want to do that but my manager, Jeanne, decided that I should. So there you have it.

Anyway...Just thought I'd let it out. For one who said that she woul never get married...the world had just ended. Oh...and Evelyn? I know...I know...I know!!!

Rave Review

Okay, for the most part... Most of you here know that I have a passion for reading and you know that when I find a book that sings to me, I pass that info along. Well... Here is my pick for you. I know that I've raved about her before but believe me... She's worth it. The book is entitled: My Nerdy Valentine by Vicki Lewis Thompson. Without going to deep into it, it's about a woman, a man and the woman's freaky boss. Its hot and spicy and funny all wrapped up in one book. If none of you have read her...Then by all means GET OFF OF YOUR ASSES AND GO GET THEM. Starting with 'Nerd in Paradise'. All of these books of hers are a fun read.

Oh, and Vicki? I have one thing to say to you!

YOU ROCK!

LOL

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope that every one of you have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Remember to give thanks to those that love you and you are able to show that love. Remember to give thanks to those that are able to receive that love and not tread it under their heels. Remember to give thanks for the ability to love those that cannot return that love…and remember to love all those that we don’t know because someday we may just need that love to pull us through.

Blessed be to every one of you and may your holidays be bright!

Recipe to try!

Ever since I stopped doing take out and cooking dinner every night I am always on the hunt for a new recipe. And just the other day I found this one on AllRecipes.com. It’s fantastic. I just made it last night and let me tell you…its GOOOOD. Just one thing, let it cool down before eating. The roof of my mouth is still burning.

It’s a Mexican Lasagna and it’s fantastic. Here is the recipe for you…give it a try, only let it sit after cooking for a few minutes to set. Otherwise it’s a real mess on the plate. LOL.

ENJOY!

Mexican Lasagna

1 pound extra lean ground beef
2 teaspoon dried oregano
¾ teaspoon garlic powder
2 ½ cups sour cream
1 (2 ounce) can sliced black olives
1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
1 teaspoon ground cumin
12 dry lasagna noodles
2 ½ cups salsa
¾ cup chopped green onions
1 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain off excess fat. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef, refried beans, oregano, cumin and garlic powder. Place four of the uncooked lasagna noodles in the bottom of a 9x12 inch baking dish. Spread half of the beef mixture over the noodles. Top with 4 more uncooked noodles and the remaining half of the beef mixture. Cover with remaining noodles. Combine the water and the salsa in a medium bowl and pour over all. Cover tightly with foil. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 decrees C) for 1 ½ hours, or until noodles are tender. In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream, green onions and olives. Spoon over casserole, and top with shredded cheese. Return to the oven, and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

Let me know if you like this. I have tons of recipes to share…LOL
